GRANVILLE ISETIMA ABIBO (SAN), ONE OF THE LIONS IN THE LEGAL PROFESSION, JOINED THE SAINTS – SEBASTINE ANYIA ESQ
I received a shocking news this afternoon that one of our best legal practitioners, Granville Isetima Abibo, is dead. The news is too hot to bear. It’s unimaginable, yet true and there is nothing anyone can do to change it. This odd world. He was a jolly good fellow, very dependable and a true friend to young lawyers.
G.I.Abibo (SAN) as he was fondly called was a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). He was called to our prestigious Bar on 27th July 1985. He holds a master of laws Degree (L.L.M) of the Obafemi Awolowo University, ILe-Ife (formerly University of Ife) Nigeria,1989.Until his death, he was the managing solicitors of Granville Abibo (SAN) & Co, a Port Harcourt based Law firm.
He was a lion in the legal palace specialized in Litigation and Appellate Practice, Corporate and Commercial Practice, Arbitration and Criminal law cases. He was a Notary Public of the supreme Court of Nigeria since 1999. He was conferred with the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) on 26th August 2011
He was a fine gentleman, his words were bond. So lively. I remembered how comely he was with me in his office in my last meeting with him in March this year in Portharcourt. He died when we needed him most. It will be extremely difficult to fill the vacuum his death has created in NBA, Port Harcourt Branch, Eastern Bar Forum and the entire NBA.
We are going to miss this great man. I pray the Almighty God to grant the family,NBA, Port Harcourt Branch and the entire legal community the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Adieu G.I. Abibo (SAN)
Sabastine Anyia Esq
