JUNE 12: Adedotun Adetunj rolls out Democracy Day message to the Nigerian Legal Community

A former Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association NBA Ikorodu Branch Mr Adedotun Adetunji Esq has on Friday, wished all Nigerians as well as fellow lawyers, a happy Democracy Day Celebration.

In his Democracy Message, he hinged on the need for tolerance, mutual understanding, peaceful coexistence and respect for selves, in a bid to thrive with oneness and foster harmonious living Nigeria.

“As Nigerians commemorate Democracy Day Celebration today, it is most instructive that we take time out to ponder on the lessons of the celebration.

“When people in a democracy are unlearned in the art of living to strengthen their conscience, compassion, and ability to question and think critically, they can be easily manipulated by fear and propaganda.

“A Democracy is only as wise as its citizens, and a Democracy of ignorant citizens can be as dangerous as a dictatorship.”

“It is therefore, important for us as Nigerian lawyers, to note and re-echo to the world that rights and responsibilities cannot be separated, since every right that we stand upon must be balanced by a set of corresponding responsibilities and we cannot legitimately make a demand unless we are willing to take responsibility for creating a world where that demand can be met.

“As we mark Democracy Day, it is therefore, our responsibility as global citizens to learn to communicate with those we are forced to see as enemies, for it is only when we understand each other, love each other, and think of every man and woman as our brother and sister that we will finally be on our way to living a TRUE DEMOCRACY.

“I wish all Nigerians and my fellow legal ptactitioners a Happy and fruitful Democracy Day!

Long Live Nigeria!!
Long Live the Legal Profession !!
Long Live the Nigerian Bar!!!
